Kristen here, checking in on you and hoping you are well.

Everyone here is fine and Father Andrew sends his best wishes. You wouldn’t believe it, but he’s been called back to the Vatican! Some cardinal or another wants to talk with him about what happened here in Miller’s Crossing. Apparently several people have called the weather phenomenon signs of the Apocalypse! Anyway, he’s going to be there soon, so if you get a chance to look him up, you should.

We did some looking online about your family history, and it’s very strange. We already knew that your family goes back in a straight matrilineal line—no sons at all. Your great-grandmother, Marissa, came to America when she was in her early twenties and—get this—she came on board a ship from Italy, but she wasn’t Italian at all. Her citizenship was French, and she was born in Paris, according to the registry on Ellis Island. We’re still doing some looking, but a lot of your family line is hard to trace because the ‘Solitaire’ name doesn’t come up a lot, so there’s not much to go on.

Other than that, we are doing well. Tom is being a good boy and keeping up with his physical therapy. He moves his wheelchair around like a pro now.

I’ve kept up with my “other” studies, too, and I’m sending positive energy your way. I have a new focus that Tom found for me in a shop downtown—it’s an almost flawless stone that looks like a tiger’s-eye, but has little jets of red in it that I’m sure are garnet. I’ve never had such a wonderfully charged focus before, and I can’t imagine how a little shop in Miller’s Crossing wound up with it, but I’m glad to have it nonetheless.
